Frequently Asked Questions

  • Personal coaching is about bridging the gap between where you are now to where you want to be. You go to a coach to change, enhance or improve some area of your life. Like an athlete, your coach is the person in your corner who’s always on your team, completely dedicated to supporting you, helping you identify and address obstacles in achieving your goals and encouraging you to take action to move toward what you really want to accomplish. Coaching is focused on the present and the future – what you can do now to increase your happiness and sense of well-being today and moving forward.

  • Coaching is a collaborative, creative partnership between you and your coach. It’s personalized -- focused exclusively on you -- and you’re in charge of what we work on. Through the process, with my support and guidance, you’ll be able to identify and clarify what you genuinely want and need. Together, we’ll explore and address what may be holding you back from reaching your desired outcomes. You’ll be empowered to decide what realistic and actionable steps you’re prepared to take to move toward your goals. And through it all, I’ll gently and compassionately serve as your guide and accountability partner to support you as you move – step by step -- in the direction of a happier and more fulfilling life.

  • Coaching is a goal-oriented process focused on the challenges and opportunities you face in the present and the future. Therapy is about healing from trauma and pain, which generally relates to your deep past. Unlike therapy, coaching doesn’t seek to delve into deep emotional issues. Coaches are neither trained nor qualified to deal with serious psychiatric conditions or addiction issues. If that’s your situation, you should seek the help of a licensed therapist.

  • Since it’s focused on actions related to the present and future, the coaching process is much more time-efficient than traditional therapy. Many coaching clients are pleasantly surprised by how much progress they can make in a relatively short period of time. A typical initial coaching engagement lasts three months, with three one-hour sessions per month. As they experience the tremendous value of personal coaching, clients often wish to extend or renew the engagement.
